Celebrating 20 Years

At Oncology North Coast, we are incredibly proud to celebrate 20 years of dedicated cancer care in the Northern Rivers region. For the past two decades, our oncologists have cared for thousands of patients and their families.

Our Milestones

📍 2005 – Oncology North Coast founded
Dr Adam Boyce established his private oncology practice in the Northern Rivers, improving access to cancer services across locations including Lismore, Ballina and Grafton. For many local patients, they no longer had to travel to the city for chemotherapy and oncology support.

📍 2010 – Expanding Our Commitment
Dr James Bull established his private oncology practice with Oncology North Coast. This marked further growth in specialist oncology care, improving access and choice for patients across our region.

Year 2010 marked the opening of a fully integrated, comprehensive cancer centre in Lismore, enabling patients to receive chemo-radiotherapy treatment locally—eliminating the need to travel to Brisbane for treatment. Our cancer care teams in the NNSWLDH treatment centres are committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate cancer care.

📍 2015 – Award-Winning, Purpose-Built Practice
One of our proudest moments came in 2015, when our purpose-built oncology premises opened in East Lismore. Locally owned and designed specifically for the needs of cancer patients and their carers, the practice was a significant step forward in offering care that is both clinically excellent and emotionally supportive.

📍 2016 to 2024 – A Growing Team of Experts
From 2016 to 2024, our specialists’ numbers have continued to grow, strengthening our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care across the Northern Rivers. Dr Amy Scott established her private oncology practice with Oncology North Coast in 2016, followed by Dr Mark Flower in 2023, and most recently, in early 2024, we welcomed Dr Rachel Hughes, a dedicated supportive and palliative care specialist.

📍 2025 and Beyond

Today, at Oncology North Coast we have four experienced medical oncologists and one palliative care physician— each specialist brings a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care, enhancing patient outcomes, and supporting the health and wellbeing of our local community.

Oncology North Coast is embracing a tumour streaming model, with each oncologist now focused on specific cancer types. This approach ensures our oncologists remains at the forefront of emerging therapies and clinical best practice. For your patients, it means more personalised, evidence-based care—delivered locally with continuity, compassion, and expertise. We welcome the opportunity to work closely with our referring doctors to provide the right care, at the right time, by the right specialist.
